When Keswa Lal of Printmaster Ltd went shopping for a replacement press, it was logical for him to call on APM
first. Having known and trusted Alex Peters for decades, Keswa says he put his faith in APM and the company came
through for him, with a Heidelberg SORMZ press with computer print control (CPC). “I trusted APM to find me the
right machine – I didn’t even need to see it before they sold it to me – and they gave me something really special.”
Printmaster Ltd was stared in 1990, but Keswa’s background in the printing industry stretches back to the 19060’s
in Fiji when he started Universal Print, a company which became the islands’ biggest printer. Since starting
up in Ellice Road on Auckland’s North Shore, Printmaster has established a loyal customer base. It is a fully
commercial printer, producing everything except screen prints, Keswa laughs.
He says the SORMZ press has provided a huge boost to his company, giving better quality, faster delivery and less
waste. Installed four months ago, he says “It is going beautifully, it is a good machine and very neat and tidy.”
Printmaster Ltd is an all-Heidelberg operation, with two GTOs (including a GTOZ Alcolor), KORD 64, and the newly
installed SORMZ.
One of the keys to selecting the SORMZ was the CPC, Keswa says. “Technology is changing and this is the way I
feel I had to go. It has provided a big benefit to our business. Jobs that took two to three days on the old
machine, only take one day on this. It takes less manpower to run the machine, it saves time and it gives beautiful
quality. I’m even surprised with the level of quality. I relied on APM and they chose wisely.”
The decision to invest in the SORMZ press from APM was driven by the need for increased quality. It replaced an
ageing press and has fulfilled the quality requirements perfectly. It also provides Printmaster with versatility,
giving a sheet size bigger than A2 (520 x 740), allowing the company to switch between two colour and multicolour
output. They now undertake contracts they were unable to with the old press.
The press was sourced by APM from Germany.
